Cub Activities
Cubs Diistrict Camp - Bromham 2017

The Sun was out and so was the sun cream! Sixteen Cubs took part in the Annual District Cub Camp at Bromham, near Bedford. The Leslie Sell Scouting Centre provides safe and secure camping for the Cubs to pursue their activities which included a Ghost Walk, Archery, Grand Camp Fire and lots of other outdoor Summer activities not forgetting the famous water-slide. The theme was the "Wild West" with Cubs and Leaders wearing cowboy outfits and each Pack Camp made a special Gateway to follow this theme. Cubs were exhausted at the close of the Camp! Thanks to Karen, Lance, Tabitha and Lyle for enabling the Cubs to have a fabulous weekend! Special thanks to Paul for transporting the gear in our Trailer.

Cubs Pack Holiday 2017

Over the last weekend in March the Cubs enjoyed their Annual Pack Holiday at the Centre in Overstone.

The theme for the weekend was 'The Jungle Book'.

Cubs were split into 3 teams and competed against each other on their abilities, behaviour, conduct, manners and kindness to others.

The Beavers joined us once again for the day on Saturday and enjoyed activities like Grass Sledging,Shelter Building,Assault Course, Traversing Wall, a Campfire (with songs and marshmallows), Backwoods Cooking, Fire Lighting and a Movie.

Special thanks to the Scouts who came along to help run activities and to the Leaders and Parent Helpers who all helped to make this Pack Holiday a fabulous and unforgettable weekend.

Cubs 100 Year Celebrations

This weekend especially celebrated 100 years of the founding of Cub Scouts World-Wide with every Pack encouraged to have a special event to mark this occasion.

Irthlingborough chose a weekend camp at Overstone and 15 Cubs and their Leader Team had great fun partying and having activities planned for them in the extentsive woodlands at this superb Scouting Centre.

The verdict was that everyone had a great weekend and this camp also enabled Karen Hutchinson to gain her Permit for taking Cubs away for activities.

Well done and thanks to all the Leader Team who supported her.

Waendal Walk

On Friday 9th May, 8 Cubs, 2 Young Leaders, 4 Leaders and 2 Parents turned up at the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough walk the 10km (6 mile) Waendel Walk (Friendship walk).

Bagheera (Karen ACSL) organised the evening walk and collected our directions and cards. The Cubs received a Waendel Backpack (which contained a water bottle).

At 6.15pm the Band led us off on our journey. Part-way around the walkers split off and those doing the 3 mile part of the walk headed back towards the Castle but we continued on.

Just over half-way through we came to the checkpoint where we had our cards stamped and enjoyed a well-earned rest. After about 10 minutes we continued on our journey.

At about 8.40pm we arrived back at the Castle, Cubs still full of energy, Leaders not quite so full! Bagheera collected our Certificates and then we all enjoyed a well earned rest.

Well done to all the Cubs that took part .They did the Group and Section proud!

District Cub Quiz

Time Saturday 2pm, place Nene Vvalley HQ, event District Cub Quiz.

Two teams from Irthlingborough sat down to take on other packs from the District for the Annual District Cub Quiz. They did not only take on other packs but also a Leader Team with Akela (Fred) & Bageera (Karen) as part of the team, the other member being from Raunds and Higham.

There were questions on colours, words beginning with the letter “W”, animals, identifying logos plus a round where they had to remember 30 items.

They had to build a Lego model where one member of the team had to go and look at the model and then tell the rest of the Team how to build it. There were 6 Teams (including the Leader Team) and after a hard fought battle the final positions were very close with Irthlingborough A (Tuesday Pack) coming 4th and Irthlingborough B (Thursday Pack) coming 3rd.

Congratulations go to both teams who did very well and did the Section and Group proud.
