I Grow Christmas Fayre

Scouting supported the Annual I-Grow Christmas Fayre in Irthlingborough High Street on Saturday 1st December. The Beavers raised money for their activities, Explorer Scouts sold 'glo-sticks' and fancy goods whilst the Scout Active Support Unit raised funds with a Tombola Stall - all the prizes being generously given by Parents and Supporters - to help offset losses from the cancellation of the District Scout Fireworks Display. Our thanks must go to all our Supporters. At this event, the cheque as proceeds from the Armistice Day Refreshments was presented to the Royal British Legion.

Armistice Day 2018

The Scout Group paraded at the Old Scouts Memorial, joined in with the United Service at St.Peters and laid a wreath at the Towns's War Memorial. Our 12 Old Scouts who made the Supreme Sacrifice for King and Country were remembered with a display of Crosses on Parsons Green. The Scout Active Support Unit provided refreshments at Parsons Green and the Townsfolk responded to enable a magnificent sum of £152.00 to be raised for the Royal British Legion. Sincere thanks to all......

110th Anniversary Reunion 2018

More than 200 past members of Irthlingborough Scouts joined with friends and supporters for a Grand Reunion at the Band Club. Guest of honour was Dean Smith our County Commissioner. Our District Commissioner Michele Hunt was among the guests as were many Scouting friends from as far away as Canada, Italy and even Wales! Experiences and memories were exchanged and we were especially pleased to see some 1948 Scouts present; David Maddock, John Cox ,Derek Horne and John Hall and our former Cub Leader Marie Flawn, who was on the 1948 Group picture as well! A great night was enjoyed as we welcomed members of the Devizes Westminster Canoe race 1972/3 team headed by Colin Cross and team members Alan Watts, Chris Fisher and Philip Bailey.

Visit of our Member of Parliament

On the weekend of the 110th Anniversary , we were very pleased to welcome our local Member of Parliament, Tom Pursglove, to our Headquarters to unveil a commemorative plaque. Tom came along together with our Mayor, County and District Councillors and some of our Young People and Leaders. The visit was arranged to acknowledge our receiving a £6,300 grant from National Lottery which has been used to install new double-glazed windows and completely decorate the Headquarters building to improve the environment for our Young People. The National Lottery Representative, Oliver Savage, congratulated the Group on wisely using the Grant.

Kindly and generously provided by Mr. and Mrs Alan Watts, the Young People were shown around the boat, allowed to steer and use the navigational gear. The party camped at Ipswich and enjoyed a weekend of great experiences. Thanks to our Leader Team for arranging this superb activity.
