Congratulations to Emma King who was surprised to be presented with her ‘Woodbeads’, again by the Mayor and our District Commissioner. Emma is the first of a dedicated group of our Leaders who are completing their modules and getting final verification.

This year the Irthlingborough Group managed again to give sterling support for this mammoth event. More than 30 Leaders, 12 Young People, 8 Explorers , Parents and Helpers formed a formidable team to look after one of Hall Park’s many gates and were high complimented by the District Fireworks Committee for their efficient work. High praise was made of the way that the Scouts policed and made safe the lane up to the Hall Stable Gate. Well done!

It was also another ‘first’ for our gate by taking a record amount of entrance fees – all going to the Scouting funds in the District and directly supporting our own Scout Group.

Thanks must go to all of the Irthlingborough Team for a great turnout.

Royal British Legion 90th Anniversary - 15th October 2011

Over 40 of our Young People (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts) with their Leaders and our District Commissioner were very smartly turned out to act as markers and take part in the parade commemorating the 90th Anniversary Parade of the Wellingborough Royal British Legion.

Military vehicles, a Caledonian Pipe Band, a platoon from ‘Dad’s Army’ ,War Veterans and many RBL Flag-bearers and other youth organisations supported this splendid event and two of our Explorers accompanied the Official Party including HM Lord Lieutenant for Northamptonshire at the taking of the Salute in the march-past.

Northamptonshire High Sherif visits the group - 26th September 2011

The High Sheriff of Northamptonshire, Mrs.Penelope Escombe MBE visited Irthlingborough Scout Group on Monday 26th September and met all of our training sections. She was welcomed by the Leaders and the Executive Team and was interested in seeing details of our Adult Volunteers featured on the notice board, all 45 of them! She was introduced to the Leaders and was amazed that Secretary David Maddock had been with the Group since 1947!

Town Carnival - September 3rd 2011

This year the Group entered a ‘Zombies and Aliens’ themed float into the town carnival. This was a great success and the group won a silver cup! A big ‘Thank- you’ to all parents and friends who put the float together and special thanks must go to Sharon Fisher, Karen Marriott and Donna Mills who successfully led our Team to put on such a good show!

As is traditional, the scouts manned the change-wagon and collected “loads a money” for the Carnival Committee. They also showed off one of their new tents at the Recreation Ground. A big well done to Lisa and her team!!

The Ward family made sure that the groups fundraising activities went “full steam ahead” by running the tea stall at the Recreation ground. A huge thank you goes to Chris and Shelly for organising the event and to Wayne for providing transport for all the equipment.
