Annual General Meeting

Thursday 17th May 2012.

At the Headquarters – The Harold Bugby Scout Centre

152, High Street, Irthlingborough

7-30 pm sharp!

Come along, see and hear about what goes on in Scouting locally and what is being arranged for our Young People!!!!

St Georges Day Parade - April 22nd 2012

The annual event started with the Group assembling at the Headquarters and marching with colours flying to St. Peter’s. All 5 Sections of the group were represented (a ‘First’ for Irthlingborough).

The Rector, Father John Hall delivered a Scout-friendly service with the Young People taking part and renewing their Promises.

Following the Service more than 100 young people along with Leaders and Parents set off on a hike to Stanwick Lakes to try out the Assault Course and work up an appetite.

The English weather stayed fine for the group and the barbecue chefs just about managed to feed everybody before they all had to be back to Irthlingborough so the young people could to be picked up by their parents.

A BIG ‘THANK-YOU’ to all who helped make the SAS contribution work, the Young People for turning up, having fun and eating burgers by the bucket- load and the Leaders for being Leaders and being there!

Special thanks to Chris Ward for sorting the food and Alistair Cochran (our Former County Commissioner) who turned up to renew his Promise and ended up being Head Chef.

1st Irthlingborough gets local recognition - March 4th 2012

Sunday 4th March 2012 witnessed another huge milestone in the 104 year history of 1st Irthlingborough Scout Group. At approximately 2:40pm that day the Group along with many other Community Supporters in Irthlingborough was awarded a nomination for the 2012 Community Spirit Award. The nomination read:-

"The oldest Youth Group in the town, in one of the oldest organisations - an unbroken timeline going back over 100 years of serving the community in Irthlingborough - there are less than 10 groups in the World that can boast this - something that Irthlingborough is famous for and should be immensely proud"

"The Scout Group nomination is not just for the current generation, but for all those in Irthlingborough that have made Scouting possible in the Community since 1908 - there have been literally thousands of Young People from the town that have served the community"
