Irthlingborough Christmas Street Party

The group contributed to the Town's Christmas street party in December which saw Betty York, the Town's oldest inhabitant given the honour of switching on the festive lights.

The Scouts sent some elves to help Santa in his grotto, the SASU served tea and coffee and the group provided a climbing wall.

Group Scout Leader Nick presented a cheque to Mr.Brian Walker of the Royal British Legion - proceeds from Refreshments from Remembrance Sunday. Nick also presented Marika Hillson with the 'Thanks Badge' to acknowledge her support in gaining a National Lottery Grant

A big thank you to all those who gave their time in this important Town event.

Christmas Tree Festival

Beavers and Cubs made decorations for the new Christmas Tree on show at the Christmas Tree Festival at the Methodist Church, Irthlingborough.

This effort helped to raise funds for the Church and it's work in the Town over the weekend of 7-8th December.

Irthlingborough Carnival

The Group took a full part in this year’s Carnival. Scouts provided the Change Wagon in front of the Parade and the Cubs and Beavers entered a float depicting ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’..

Even Nick Powell looked the part in his best suit starring as ‘Willy Wonka’ –an appropriate RÔLE for our beloved Group Scout Leader!!

The float won a Silver Cup as the best Young Peoples’ Entry 2013.

The Scout Active Support Unit (SASU) made teas and coffees to support the activities at the Recreation Ground and raised over £200.00 for Group Funds.

Thanks must go to all the Leader Team ,Helpers and Parents who made the day a great success.

Scout Supporter Receives Award

Matthew Howell has received the Chief Scouts Commendation for Good Services to Scouting. He is a Queens Scout and has been part of the Leader Team for over 20 years with Beavers, Scouts and Venture Scouts and an Executive Committee Member.

Congratulations to Matthew on his award!

AGM Report Thursday 16th May 2013


The Group’s 105th Successful Year was reported by Group Scout Leader Nick Powell. The meeting was attended by Parents ,Friends, Trustees and Leaders. The Nene Valley District was represented by Commissioner Michèle Height and Training Manager Tony Knott.

Leaders Leanne Pearce, Sharon Fisher and Karen Marriott received their Wood-Beads to acknowledge their Leader Training Awards.


Parent Helper Paul Hudson received the Thanks Badge.


Scout Joshua Bayes was presented with the much coveted Chief Scout’s Gold Award.


Annual Awards for progress ware made to Beavers Lily and Joshua, Cubs Dylon and Milan and Scout Charlie.


Silver Chief Scout’s Awards were presented to Cubs Jack, Charlie, Jordan and Jack.


Derek Horne (a 1948 Scout) came along and supported the AGM.
Derek's father, Mr Stanley Horne helped re-start the Group just after WW2

The meeting remembered with sadness those persons associated with our Group that has passed away over the last number of months.
