St Georges Day Activities 2018

St.George's Day was a little different this year! The Group paraded to St.Peter's Church and conducted by Father John, renewed their promises and receiving the new 110th Anniversary Neckerchiefs. After the Special Church Service, the Young People went to the Frontier Centre (Crow Hill) to take part in the Nene Valley District's Activity Afternoon.Lots of activities were enjoyed by the Young People. Thanks to the Leader Team for arranging these events.

Irthlingborough Archaelogical Society

Scouts and Cubs joined the Members of Irthlingborough Archaeological Society to clean and prepare the many artifacts in-earthed at the Dig last Autumn. The carved stone, of great interest, with a Romano-British scene was shown to the Young People and the significance explained. When the 'dig' resumes later this year, the Young People will be invited to join in. Thanks to Karen and Paul for organising the event for the Cubs and Scouts.

This year the Scouts combined their COLD CAMP with activities jointly arranged for the Cubs. Scouts and Explorer Scouts slept out- under canvas- to gain their "Brass Monkey Pennant" with the Cubs using the Will Smith Chalet in order to take part in the daily activities. Scouts camped in wet and very muddy conditions and were teamed with the Cubs for outdoor activities which included 'Backwoods Cooking'. Supervised by our Leader Team and supported by our Scout Active Support Unit, more than 50 members shared the weekend activities. A great time was enjoyed by all and afterwards family washing machines were called into action to clear up the mud! Thanks must go to Karen and the Team for arranging this successful event!
