Irthlingborough Carnival 2018

The whole Group took part in the Annual Carnival with the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts entering a float depicting 110 years of Scouting in the Town. Full of fun the Young People enthusiastically collected money for the Carnival Funds and greeted the spectators on the way around the Town. Explorer Scouts headed the parade with our vintage Trek Cart handing out change to the spectators and winning the Carnival Cup for the best Young Persons Entry. Our Scout Active Support Group offered refreshments and raised funds for the Group. Thanks goes to our Leader Team for arranging our participation in the event.

Group Camp 2018

Another successful Group Camp was held at Jordans Scout Activity Centre at Gt.Barford.  As many as 60 Young People, their Leaders and Helpers made this camp a fun weekend - in great weather.  Beavers camped as well, being the first time that these 6-8 year-olds had a taste of life under canvas!  Thanks to their Leaders Claire, Karen M, Liam and Seiann. The camp was organised by Karen Hutchinson supported by Steve and Howie from the SASU - who cooked very well to feed the masses!  Thanks to Sam Sumner, Steve Kurn, Anna Tillin, Calum King, Lance Goodman, Paul Hudson, Andrew Baker and SASU Members Steve Griffiths, Ann and Bob Gotch, Chris Fisher, Mike Digby and Ivan Kench.

Annual General Meeting 2018

We were pleased to welcome our Deputy County Commissioner Lee Jones, District Commissioner Michele Hunt, ACC Jonathan Hazell, ACC Andy Hunt, ADC Nick Powell, ADC Luke Cowan, ADC Tony Knott, District and Group Leaders to our 2018 Annual General Meeting. Special Guest was our Town Mayor Matthew Maedge on his first official visit of his Year in Office.  Local Councillors and Trustees were among the guests that we welcomed.  The meeting was well supported by parents, friends, supporters and Leaders as well as lots of Scouts who offered refreshments to the visitors.  Beavers, Scouts and Cubs received their annual progress Awards, Cubs their Silver Awards, Medals for Beavers taking part in the Great Ormand Street Charity Walk, Leaders their ABCD Awards and specialliy those who received their Thanks Badges - presented to Graham Sturgess and Margery Watts. The recently formed Nene Valley Network presented a Thanks Badge and Certificate to the Group for assisting them with their 'start-up' and providing facilities for their meetings.

County Award for Nick Powell

At a recent presentation evening at Franklins Gardens, the Acting County Commissioner and Nene Valley District Commissioner awarded a local commendation to Nick. He has been instrumental in re- forming the Refresher Scout Network within the Nene Valley District establishing a strong Unit of Young Adults ( 18-25 years) aiming to assist them to gain their Queens Scout Awards and Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards. Well done Nick!

St Georges Day Activities 2018

St.George's Day was a little different this year! The Group paraded to St.Peter's Church and conducted by Father John, renewed their promises and receiving the new 110th Anniversary Neckerchiefs. After the Special Church Service, the Young People went to the Frontier Centre (Crow Hill) to take part in the Nene Valley District's Activity Afternoon.Lots of activities were enjoyed by the Young People. Thanks to the Leader Team for arranging these events.
