110th Anniversary Reunion 2018
More than 200 past members of Irthlingborough Scouts joined with friends and supporters for a Grand Reunion at the Band Club. Guest of honour was Dean Smith our County Commissioner. Our District Commissioner Michele Hunt was among the guests as were many Scouting friends from as far away as Canada, Italy and even Wales! Experiences and memories were exchanged and we were especially pleased to see some 1948 Scouts present; David Maddock, John Cox ,Derek Horne and John Hall and our former Cub Leader Marie Flawn, who was on the 1948 Group picture as well! A great night was enjoyed as we welcomed members of the Devizes Westminster Canoe race 1972/3 team headed by Colin Cross and team members Alan Watts, Chris Fisher and Philip Bailey.

Visit of our Member of Parliament
On the weekend of the 110th Anniversary , we were very pleased to welcome our local Member of Parliament, Tom Pursglove, to our Headquarters to unveil a commemorative plaque. Tom came along together with our Mayor, County and District Councillors and some of our Young People and Leaders. The visit was arranged to acknowledge our receiving a £6,300 grant from National Lottery which has been used to install new double-glazed windows and completely decorate the Headquarters building to improve the environment for our Young People. The National Lottery Representative, Oliver Savage, congratulated the Group on wisely using the Grant.

Mary G Sailing Camp 2018
Scouts and Explorer Scouts took part in an activity at Ipswich and experienced a trip in an ocean-going yatch into the North Sea. Kindly and generously provided by Mr. and Mrs Alan Watts, the Young People were shown around the boat, allowed to steer and use the navigational gear. The party camped at Ipswich and enjoyed a weekend of great experiences. Thanks to our Leader Team for arranging this superb activity.

Irthlingborough Carnival 2018
The whole Group took part in the Annual Carnival with the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts entering a float depicting 110 years of Scouting in the Town. Full of fun the Young People enthusiastically collected money for the Carnival Funds and greeted the spectators on the way around the Town. Explorer Scouts headed the parade with our vintage Trek Cart handing out change to the spectators and winning the Carnival Cup for the best Young Persons Entry. Our Scout Active Support Group offered refreshments and raised funds for the Group. Thanks goes to our Leader Team for arranging our participation in the event.
