Irthlingborough Scouts Buy New Tents – after 15,000 nights camped |
The Group Executive Committee, conscious of this and especially with a massive County Camp coming up in May and the Queens Diamond Jubilee in 2012, identified the need for new tents. The last NEW patrol tents were purchased from funds raised in 1983 and have served the Group for all of these years – and have accounted for a total 15,000 nights camped in these tents! So, due investment was made in the Young People of the Town and the Group spent £3000.00 to buy 6 tents, made to a high standard by Blacks of Greenock – a premier supplier who still makes tents in the UK.
Funds were raised especially to meet the cost by a Race Night, A Hog Roast, a sponsored Cycle Ride and a Halloween Party. The Group still needs more equipment and additional Patrol Tents to support their future needs and ambitious programme. The tents were used for first time at County Cub Camp in June 2011.
