Group Annual Meeting 2016

May 19th 2016 was the date for our 107th Annual Meeting - yes that long ago!

Guests, Leaders and Parents came along to visit us especially as we now have a new footpath and even vehicle access to our Headquarters - having been at this site since 1947 and always needing to carry all our equipment along a 2m wide footpath.

The progress of our Young People's sections was highlighted with a clear and professional video and slide show much apprecaited by all our visitors.

Best Beaver,Cub and Scout Awards were presented by the Leaders - Beavers to Connor and Jamie, Cubs to Daniel and Daniel and Scouts to Naomi. Well done for all your hard work this past year!

Tony Knott (Leader Trainer) awarded the Woodbadge Training Award to Cub Scout Leader Karen Hutchinson and acknowledged that Jay Darge had gained his Hill Walking Qualification.

We especially welcomed Cllr.Marika Hillson recent past Chair of East Northants Council, Cllr.Sylvia Hughes (County Councillor) and our own Town Mayor Cllr.Allan Short.

Thanks Badges were given to the District and Town Councils for their superb support in giving us our improved access. Former Councillor Bob Nightingale received a Thanks Badge for his kind efforts in supporting our application to modify the plans to allow this new access.

David Maddock, our long-serving Secretary was given a engraved glass for his 80th Birthday and for his great contribution in securing planning meetings with the local authorities and promoting the name of the new road to commemmorate our Founder as " Baden Powell Way"

Nicholas Powell was presented with an Engraved Plaque acknowledgeing with sincere thanks his work as Group Scout Leader. He retired after 10 action-packed years of great Leadership.

Acknlowledgements were made concerning the support from Mr.Stewart Laokes for allowing access for our building maintenance, Cyndy Phillips for running our very successful Tote, Paul Hudson for looking after and towing our trailer ,Robert Marriott for his work in looking after our valuable equipment and to our Leaders and Scout Active Support Unit for their continued contributions..

Refreshments followed, ably served by the Scouts and Explorer Scouts.
