Beavers Weed-Pull in Irthlingborough

As part of their World Community Badge, Beavers took on the task of WEED-PULLING around the Town Centre. On a very hot morning the Young People, armed with weed-pullers and protective gloves, certainly smartened up our Town.  The event was organised by Leaders Claire Sumner and Karen Marriott and their Team.  Welcome refreshments were provided free of charge by Gemma at the Born and Bred Café and the Beavers were congratulated by Deputy Mayor Adrian Winkle who arranged personal 'thank-you' letter to be sent to all the participants.

Cubs County Camp - Overstone 2018

Our Cubs joined with hundreds of Cubs and their Leaders from all over Northamptonshire for the biggest event ever! Irthlingborough joined forces with 1st Rushden Cubs and took part in activities including archery, crazy golf, backwoods cooking, football, craft, inflatables, scalectrics and all the real fun of camping. Complemented by really good hot weather, the Cubs returned very tired but all with one comment " the best camp ever!" Sincere thanks to Karen Hutchinson and her Team for working hard to arrange the activity for our Cubs. THANK YOU!

Group Camp 2018

Another successful Group Camp was held at Jordans Scout Activity Centre at Gt.Barford.  As many as 60 Young People, their Leaders and Helpers made this camp a fun weekend - in great weather.  Beavers camped as well, being the first time that these 6-8 year-olds had a taste of life under canvas!  Thanks to their Leaders Claire, Karen M, Liam and Seiann. The camp was organised by Karen Hutchinson supported by Steve and Howie from the SASU - who cooked very well to feed the masses!  Thanks to Sam Sumner, Steve Kurn, Anna Tillin, Calum King, Lance Goodman, Paul Hudson, Andrew Baker and SASU Members Steve Griffiths, Ann and Bob Gotch, Chris Fisher, Mike Digby and Ivan Kench.

Annual General Meeting 2018

We were pleased to welcome our Deputy County Commissioner Lee Jones, District Commissioner Michele Hunt, ACC Jonathan Hazell, ACC Andy Hunt, ADC Nick Powell, ADC Luke Cowan, ADC Tony Knott, District and Group Leaders to our 2018 Annual General Meeting. Special Guest was our Town Mayor Matthew Maedge on his first official visit of his Year in Office.  Local Councillors and Trustees were among the guests that we welcomed.  The meeting was well supported by parents, friends, supporters and Leaders as well as lots of Scouts who offered refreshments to the visitors.  Beavers, Scouts and Cubs received their annual progress Awards, Cubs their Silver Awards, Medals for Beavers taking part in the Great Ormand Street Charity Walk, Leaders their ABCD Awards and specialliy those who received their Thanks Badges - presented to Graham Sturgess and Margery Watts. The recently formed Nene Valley Network presented a Thanks Badge and Certificate to the Group for assisting them with their 'start-up' and providing facilities for their meetings.

Scouts visit Fire Station

The Scout Troop visited Wellingborouh Fire Station and had an interesting time understanding the workings of a fully-manned operational station. Using the fire and rescue systems, all the Scouts had a chance to try out at least part of being a firefighter!  Sincere thanks to the Fire Officers for laying on such a great visit.
