Annual Beaver and Cub Halloween Party
|
|
The Beavers and Cubs again joined forces for this year’s Grand Halloween party. As you can imagine, it went with a swing and over 200 people had lots of fun.
There were lots of very ugly and scary faces at the party; some had even worn costumes as well!!!
The children were treated to a Disco with lots of scary tunes, and the hall decorated from top to bottom had lots of surprises as well. There were spiders, skeletons and ghosts ready to jump out and frighten the Beavers and Cubs.
There were games for the children to play with an array of prizes available to win. Several of the adults were roped into being decorated as Mummies as part of the fun.

After the games, it was “eyes down for a full house” with everyone trying to win at a game of bingo. Then it was on to the fancy dress competition to see who had the best costumes of the night.
Ladybird and Akela were hands down winners....right up till the point where people pointed out that they were in fact not actually wearing masks!
Congratulations to all of those that won on the night, well done!
Once the prizes had all been awarded, a huge Buffet was unveiled with everyone queuing around the street to fill their plates with the treats on offer.
A huge amount of prizes had been donated for the raffle and winners from everywhere came to claim their bounty, some people taking away some very special treats.
As usual Rabbit carried out the auction of the Halloween cakes that had been made, as well several lots of bargains helping to raise funds for the Groups.
A special presentation was made at the end of the night to Mark O’Sullivan for his efforts of fundraising for the group. Mark received the Thank-You badge from the Group and a huge round of applause from the room.
The Leaders then took time to relax as the disco played late into the night, with everyone enjoying themselves till the midnight hour.
The Group would like to THANK everyone for their efforts in making this night another successful party, raising over £1000 for the Groups in total.
Children having FUN at School – must be the Beavers end of term party.
The Beavers descended on the Infant school hall to have their end of term party, bringing with them a mass selection of delights and treats to share. The hut was way too small to take the sausage rolls and cakes that filled the tables that had been set up, let alone the 50 odd Beavers that came along too.
The Beavers enjoyed an array of games ranging from musical bumps to passing a Polo along a straw. It was amazing that no one actually dented the floor during the bumps especially with some of the Leaders joining in. Many of the helpers were disqualified from the game as they kept on eating the polo’s as well.
With the arrival of the GSL, everyone started to play by the rules and eventually the games resumed, with some of the Beavers winning prizes for their efforts; and by some I mean all.

The games finished and the Beavers fought their way to the Buffet, having first to get past an eager GSL who had already stared tucking into the egg mayonnaise sarnies. Piling their plates high and their cups to the brim, they proudly ate like a pack of wolves, although a lot less hairy!!!
After the Beavers had had seconds and for some third helping, their parents arrived for a presentation by Rabbit.
Several Beavers were awarded the highest honour possible by achieving their bronze award for all the hard work they had carried out throughout the year. The awards were presented by the GSL.

The results of the ballot for Lodge leaders and Assistant lodge leaders were made, with many delighted children taking on the new roles
The evening finished with Arkela joining from the Cubs to take part in a moving on ceremony which saw the older Beavers leave the colony to start their journey up to the Cub pack. Many tears were shed, not just by the leaders but also from Arkela who just realised that she had doubled her pack size!!
With the party ending the Leaders waved goodbye and started to enjoy their long summer break, see you all next term

Trip to the Cinema for Beaver’s ends in Clouds of meatballs
|
|
The Beavers went to the Cinema at the weekend for a special treat, seeing the cartoon Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. After taking over the entire first 5 rows of the premium seats, the Beavers armed with a variety of Pop corn, drinks and all other things bad for them sat down to enjoy the film.
The cinema had even reserved a single seat right at the back for anyone that was naughty. That's right you guessed it, Rabbit spent the entire film sitting there!!!!
The cinema was soon filled with laughter as the film played with everyone enjoying it as they watched a man invent a machine that makes any type of food rain from the sky.
Many of the Beavers asked if we could make one next time we had an experiment evening.
The Beavers behaved immaculately and were a credit to the group and at the end they let Rabbit out of the naughty chair and so he could take the photo.
|
Don’t tell anyone but after all the Beavers had left, both Ladybird and Butterfly were outside staring at the clouds and praying for it to rain chocolate!!!!!
New Beavers become part of the group
As part of the Promise Challenge and for our new Beavers to become a full member of the Scout movement, the colonies held an investiture evening. Parents came along to see their pride and joy make the Beaver promise and dedicate themselves to at least 2 years service!!!!
The new Beavers looked very smart in their uniforms and after making their promises they received their very own special Necker.
It took Rabbit at least 3 goes to realise that the Necker’s could be adjusted and that the Beavers head were not too big for them after all.
The Beavers then all renewed their promises again together along with the new members to ensure that they all had the chance to work towards their badge. |
|
A big congratulation goes to all the new Beavers. Welcome and all the best for the future.
